Contemplations on T H White's The Once and Future King:
Omigod! *flails* I love this book.
Normally, I'm not much for the Arthurian stories, Arthur was always too vague of a character, Gwenivere was always a selfish and jealous bitch, and Lancelot was always a bundle of contradictions, being perfect and and a man of God yet being an adulterer and slaying people.
Okay, so I sort of like Guinevere better in this book, but not much more. She's still a selfish and jealous bitch, but slightly less so in the other stories. Arthur actually has character, and my heart wept for him in the second two sections of the book, because he's so painfully human and can see how everything is failing but can't do anything to stop it. And Lancelot, omigod Lancelot, I love Lancelot in this book. He's ugly, and conflicted, and pure, and while he's still an adulterer and slays people, he's so torn about it.
Also? This book makes me ship Arthur/Lancelot. Makes me ship them hard. <3<3<3
I've been trying to resist writing a fic of Arthur being the once and future king, being reborn in modern times, with Gwen and Lance and Emrys (canon pseudonym for Merlyn). I think my resistance is shattered, and there goes my mind scripting. Now my I need to firm my resolve not to write it right now, as I have arseloads of stuff to do (two group presentations, two case studies for Roman Law, 2500 word essay, Greek chiton, 2000 word essay, and a couple other little things).
Urgh, I was never any good at resisting the urge to write. :/

I have awkward profs this year. One stutters every third word, if not more, the poor man. Most of the time, everyone just ignores the stuttering, and no one has ever laughed, but sometimes, when he's having such difficulty on a particular word, I feel so badly for him. Either way, it's not too hard to follow along, it just takes him a little longer to get things out. I still have arse-loads of notes for that class.
Another prof seems to be determined to make me the class pet. On Tuesday she had to leave early to drive to NS for a funeral, so she plonked in a video, hit play and left, and left me in charge of the lock-box for the media centre's remote, and the responsibility of holding onto the video. I have been SO PARANOID about leaving it at home and I've only had it since Tuesday. Ugh.
In other news: I still have some remnants of the plague that I can't seem to shake, nor predict. I'm also a helluva lot tireder than usual, which is Not Good. I also seem to be in the process of losing my voice, and where I have choir tonight and having missed several practises this month, that is also Not Good. :/ Arse-loads of assignments, blah blah, computer issues, blah blah, freezing in the damn SUB, blah blah.
Life.

News bits:
- I have the plague! D: It's some kind of flu that's been manifesting as a migraine for a week. Bastard. Apparently Mum had the same thing, only worse than what I have, as she couldn't eat for days. ): If it's not better, or has gotten worse, by Monday morning I'm going to the clinic. Mostly because I have a shitload of things to do, and Sudafed Cold&Cough is not the proper medication for this, but it's what I have.
- Zombie story! Oh yeah~ Zombie killers ftw (take 'ftw' either way as both fit *EG*)
- I discovered Firefly missing last week, and promptly poked the culprit (who's in London ON at the moment) and he got his parents to mail it to me. I've cross-stitched a small thank-you card for them, and as soon as I get my hands on some double-sided tape it'll be good to go. Have a crap webcam shot in the meantime (and ignore my fingers).

- Goin' out for Chinese tonight! Might not be the best thing, considering my health right now, but what the hell. It's my grandma's 85th birthday; I'll be defenestrated by several of my aunts if I don't show, sick or not. :/
- Essay season. Oh yeah, that's right. Fuck me.
- Aaaaand my ride's here, gotta go.

Thirty minutes. He's been playing the same damn song for thirty minutes. What. The. Fuck.
So I'm pretty sure I've been dealing with a migraine for the past week or so, low level, nothing major, just an irritating pain in my head with slight noise-sensitivity. So I've been dosing myself with two ES tylenol each morning and each night, and just ignored it while at church or class or whatever.
Acknowledged that it's a migraine yesterday, as I developed noise and light sensitivity. Took yesterday easy to see if I could do anything to get rid of it. Nuuuuuuuoooope. ES tylenol does nothing. Two tylenol with codeine does nothing. I've currently got a gravol, plus two, possibly four, tylenol with codeine in me. Eating while I have an appetite, as I know how capricious migraine nausea is. Then Imma go take a nice long soak in the tub, and if he's still playing the same damn song when I get out, I'm gonna tell him off.
Thirty-five minutes. Nnnnnnrgh.

Academic integrity says, no don't skip class! Fuck academic integrity. Haven't read Ivanhoe, have no intention of reading Ivanhoe, will not be attending the class for which I should have Ivanhoe read for, as I sit in the front, and my prof knows me well enough to depend on me to contribute to class as I'm the only one in this class who has taken the Chaucer and Co course last year.
Yeeeeaaaah. Imma go pick up some VitC (Superstore doesn't carry the brand I take....) and milk.
ETA @ 12:30ish: Shall further add that in addition to not having read Ivanhoe, I have a splitting headache that has stuck around for close to a week that won't let up. It's not a migraine (due to lack of sense sensitivities), but no safe amount of tylenol is helping. Glargh.
ETA @ 3:20ish: Headache morphed into a migraine. Around that time, one roommate wanted to show me a funny vid on youtube, and another arrives home and immediately turns on the tv. Knowing my luck, the boys downstairs will start playing their bongos when they get back. I will scream if that happens.

Okay, so Riah got me into
Glee. There are many awesome things about it. Mainly, the music is absolutely stunning.
I just finished watching "Preggers", and the scene at the end where Kurt comes out to his dad, I literally squealed and hugged my laptop because Kurt's dad is
awesome. <333

I was up until 2:30 doing up an assigment due today. Had to get up around 7:00 so I could be coherent and dressed (not always in that order) for an 8:30 class, for which the assignment was due for.
I'm so tired right now, I can decide if I want tea or a nap.

Okay, midterm week this week. Hardly studied for either, as I have had a shitload of things due this week (read Ivanhoe, Classical Greece midterm, CanLit midterm, teacher interview, social studies presentation, Roman Law case study, and powerpoint presentation for Math -- I only have Math left now).
Greece midterm was LOLtastic in some places. All multiple choice, and some of the answers were hilarious. On such question was:
Which Greek codified Athens' laws:
A) Hammurabi
B) Draco
C) Solon
D) Snape
It was amusing for that one, as I could tell when my classmates got to that one from the stifled snickers. Myself included, had to bite my lip to keep from laughing out loud on that one. There were a couple others with random crap thrown in like that, too. I ALMOST picked Snape, just for the hell of it, but my academic pride wouldn't let me. Should have drawn something though....
That was last night. Classical Greece is a three-hour class. I was done my midterm in 40 minutes. *rolls eyes* And that was after going over the 80 general MC twice, and the 20 map MC thrice.
Today was CanLit. 90 minutes to write six short answers: the six periods of Canadian Literature (got that down pat), summary of the movie Atanarjuat and the evils in it and how the cycle of evil was broken, and four passage analyses, which our prof identified the works for us, so we just had to identify the author, the speaker, and the context and overall issue of the work it came from.
Yeeeeeeaaaah. 20 minutes. Probably closer to 15 minutes, as I was debating with myself over the identity of two authors. I wasn't sure on them, but I checked later and I was right for both. Go me.
So I finish, pass it in, and go down to the main entrance of Tilley Hall where I knew they were selling cupcakes for breast cancer research donations. I donated $2 for a dinky cupcake, but it's one of my three charities of choice that I always donate to (the other two being Heart and Stroke, and Cancer Research in general, because both have touched my life significantly). I didn't realise until I had almost finished my cupcake what it looked like. I pulled off the black licorice jujube on top, and tasted it to see if it was chocolate, which it wasn't :( , and then it clicked. Pink icing with a brown candy in the middle. It's a tit! HAHAHA I'msojuvenile. But I still applauded the people running it for their cleverly evil genius.
I licked a tit and didn't know it. XDDD

*snorts* Jehovah's Witness ladies, you are made of fail. They rambled on about making family life better and quoted me a passage from Ephesians, which was all very nice, but one tidbit the one rattled off to me was that "though it was written a thousand years ago, it's still applicable today".
Sure, still applicable, not arguing that. A thousand years ago? Nuh-uh. Ephesians is New Testament, which was written about 1 960 years ago. More than a thousand years, lady. And oh, if you wanna go technical and ask about the English version of the Bible, still wrong. The first English Bible wasn't printed until less than five hundred years ago.
That tidbit alone threw me off listening.
And the fact that I'm standing in an open doorway, whilst it is 2C outside, wearing no socks, thin pants and a thin shirt. And that it. COLD.

Thanks GMail, for giving me a serious case of the heebie-jeebies.
Dicovery News Article on the Shroud of Turin, possibly debunking the myth, yadda yadda. So I look up some images on Google, and gave myself the heebie-jeebies. The image of Christ or the image of a medieval knight, whichever it may be, it's still creepy as anything. Especially looking at the vertical "stains" along the figure, and the blotches. They look like skulls.
Seriously creeped out now. Who knew checking your email could be so creepy?

I feel like I'm back in elementary school: I am currently cutting out 210 individual squares from cardstock. I am not impressed, nor is my hand. I have to cut these buggers out by scissors because my exacto knife blade broke in the spring and I have yet to pick up replacement blades.
At least I don't have to cut out the trapezoids and rhombi. I will, eventually, but not yet.
Owwwww. Note to self: Friday pick up replacement blades. My scissors suck.
And yeah, definitely not gonna have Ivanhoe read for tomorrow. Sorry prof, it's just not happening.
Ughughugh, behind in readings.
